for the ladylike baker.
in my dreamworld, i would drop by the neighborhood antique shop and run into one of these elegant beauties. and maybe it would even turn out to be a pretty jadite like one from rachel's table.
then i would wrap my arms around it in wonder, pay the kind lady at the counter, and cradle it in my lap as we drive home. and forevermore it would grace my table and coax me to host scads of tea parties, showers, and such. the end.
santa baby, i want a ruffly cake plate for christmas, please.

Oh, it's so lovely! And so funny that you mention mine because as soon as I saw that picture I gasped a little and thought "want it, want it, want it". I have an addiction.
my mom collects cake plates and most have come from antique stores. every now & then we'll stumble upon one at an estate/yard sale. keep your eye out!
It's a fenton hobnail pedestal cake plate . . . I've seen them on ebay before!
