Grant finished his final summer vacation project the other night. It was a beast. The school was getting rid of some old slate chalkboards over the summer and he was able to grab one for our house. Have you ever tried to maneuver a real old-fashioned slate chalkboard? They weigh a ton. After much planning on how to hang the 170-pound giant on a wall, and much heavy lifting, he got it up in Hadley's room. (it really is a miracle!) And then he drew her a picture and strung twinkle lights for her. What a sweet daddy.

With that, the summer came to a close.
Yesterday he started the 2012-2013 school year.
And I re-activated my gym membership.
Back to real life!

Aw, I'm so jealous! :) A chalkboard is on my list of must-haves for when we have a house someday. And those twinkle lights are the perfect addition! Love it.

I can hardly believe summer is already over. Although, I must say, I'm very eager for everything the rest of the year holds. All my favorite things. :)

Wow, I absolutely adore chalkboards! When I was in school I always waited for recess to draw and write on the chalkboard. Hadley is so lucky to have such a fun and thoughtful dad!

Oh, I'd love to see the whole finished product. I love old things being re-purposed or being put to use again.

about this blog

Hello, I'm Summer. A people-loving introvert whose hope and life is in Jesus. His promises are my passion and my ministry is homelife. This blog is a place for me to write about everyday things. Especially food. My favorite thing to do is sit around a table, lingering over a long meal with good conversation. I live with my husband and our 2 littles. We like blizzards, thrifting, grammar, guacamole, cheerful hearts, nice manners, good movies, and making simple, real, nutrient-dense food.
