2012 is in the books and it's time to start playing life in 2013. I wonder what's ahead for us this round. Grant and I couldn't fall asleep the other night because we just wanted to talk and talk about possibilities for us. Places and jobs and potentials and dreams. And of course, we had our annual look over the budget meeting on the couch, which I actually look forward to every year! We go through and see where we over-budgeted or under-budgeted and make changes/goals for the year ahead. This year we paid off the school loan from Grant getting his masters!! So that's pretty fun.
Speaking of fun, let's start reviewing the holidays! Did you and yours play any good games over the holidays? I wanted to share some our holiday gaming with you today!
This was a new one for me and I really liked it! Contemplative and relaxing.
Great for a mixed group of cousins, aunts, and uncles.
One of my faves! I never win, but I love word games.

Family Trivia
Wii Bowling
Jenga
With my side of the family we play games to win gift cards as our "stocking stuffers." This year's first game was a homemade family trivia game from Mom. Then wii bowled and destroyed the Jenga tower, which the boys were crazy good at. And for the last event of the stocking tournament we teamed up with our spouse for couples' Password. I had almost forgotten about this game and it is so great! Simple, and perfect to play with someone who knows how your mind works. Grant and I got hooked.
We have a vintage version of it in our game cupboard that we've been ignoring until now. Since we got home from Christmas in Nebraska we've been playing it every night at the dinner table.
Grant and I also bought The Room to play together on the iPad over Christmas break. Have you heard of it yet? It was awarded game of the year by the App Store. It's amazing! Puzzles and patterns and codes and lots of fun to play. If you liked Myst, you'll love this simplified and sophisticated challenge. We just finished it last night!
Sadly, this year there wasn't time to play my favorite of all favorites: Acquire. Lots of strategy and money in this one. Something to look forward to for next year!
What did you and your family play this year?

We played Risk (which I immediately lost!) and Cards Against Humanity. It's actually a pretty dirty game, but fun with a group of friends on NYE!
The Room is awesome. My husband showed it to me and I played it on Saturday and was hooked for hours!
I learned a new game this year: Milles Bornes. Scattergories is one of my favorites too.
We played Phase 10. It's an addicting card game. Glad you all had a good Christmas.
