Hello, everybody! I cannot believe that I'm back already with our baby news. I was so sure my due date would come and go without anything to report! But the Lord's timing is perfect. It's a boy! Meet Casper. He arrived at our house on Sunday afternoon, January 12th (the due date!) and both of us are doing so great. Praise Jesus! You guys, he is amazing. I'll give another update soon, but basically the news for the next while is going to be that I'm on the couch cuddling my son. In the meantime, hugs all around and I've got some recipe posts all pre-written and ready to go for you! Back soon!

Guys!
I'm super excited. Back in the fall, I was contacted by the lovely Ticket Chocolate; the company famous for their gourmet hot chocolate on a stick. They wanted to feature my Have A Cup design as part of their new Cup of Cheer gift set! Eeek! What an honor. I'm happy to tell you that it's officially for sale today, in tote form, in their cute hot chocolate shop. Hop over if you'd like to take a peek!

Thanks for being excited with me, friends! And thanks for all the shop love and support that has already been pouring in this Christmas season. Love, Summer

August 1, 2013
Hello, friends and hello, August! Of course I am just now getting around to posting something on this dear old blog of mine. Of course. It's the last week of camp, July came to a close yesterday, and this is when I usually return to the blog- when things are winding down
... or are they?

Really, they aren't. Things in my life are just gearing up. I'm coming back to my blog, and I'm coming back with a bang:

I'm having a baby!
Yes, while I've been away for the summer I've been pretty preoccupied. Taking lots of naps, finding food that sounds good, eating crazy things, and generally growing a baby. Grant and I are expecting a little one in January! Yay! Praise the Lord! He is so good! And we are super excited.

Okay, I'll try to answer the usual questions (and the ones that I'm comfortable answering)... :)

1. How are you feeling? Great! Now. The first trimester was rough around the edges, incredibly tiring, and generally more intense than with Hadley. I've been thinking that first pregnancy was sort of like "playing house"- way too easy. This time is the real deal! Although I never actually got sick (throwing up), so I'm hugely thankful for that. I started to feel more like myself around week 12 and now I don't have to avoid seeing, cooking, and thinking about food as much.

2. Are you going to find out the gender or share baby name possibilities? Nope! We like secrets around here. :)

3. How far along are you and when did you find out? I'm 16 weeks/4 months along and we've known since early May.

4. Are you planning another home birth? Yes! Hadley was born at home and we loved that experience so much. We're excited for another one.

5. Does Hadley get it? Well she definitely identifies my tummy as a baby now, and already says "Nigh' Nigh', baby" and pats my bump when we put her in bed every night. So that's adorable. I'm sure she has no idea what's coming, though. But I do! It's so fun to know what to expect this time around. More thoughts on this in the near future.

Sending you all a big hug and a slice of my extreme happiness. (A BABY!!!)
Can't wait to have more baby talk on the blog and in my life. It never gets old.

recipesection

today my blog turns two years old!
and i'm giving it a gift.

please see my sidebar to check out the all-new RECIPE page! the one i've been most excited about with this new pages addition. finally, a sleek new way to find food around here. i'm suuuper happy about it. i will use it myself, as weird as that sounds. (i really do look up my own recipes sometimes.) some of the recipes are from way way back, so you'll have to excuse the photos from before i knew how to use a camera. they're pretty unfortunate. but i guess i've learned a thing or two in the past two years, and that's a very good thing.

happy birthday, blog!
last year i wrote up a bit of its history, in case you're wondering about the past.

ps. please feel free to browse the other new pages, too. i will be keeping my labels section for now, so you can still search posts by topic, but the archives now have their very own section. so you can go back to last november to read what i said on the day when we got our new house, or what i was thankful for last thanksgiving. or check out december 2009 to see the christmas campout + the big blizzard. also, my formspring can now be found on the contact page, and the favorites page will be up soon!
September 21, 2010
hey guys,
check out what's on my sidebar!
----------------------------------------------->
my blog has independent pages! finally. ahh. a nice, neat place for everything, and everything in its place. (well, in just a bit. i'm working on it.) hooray! why did i wait so long? now you don't have to search through days and days of my blog to find that one recipe, grandma!
i'm really excited about this. can you tell? i feel like things just got cleaner around here. and easier for you, hopefully. any suggestions on what pages you'd like to see over there?
more coming later today.
see you soon,
summer

about this blog

Hello, I'm Summer. A people-loving introvert whose hope and life is in Jesus. His promises are my passion and my ministry is homelife. This blog is a place for me to write about everyday things. Especially food. My favorite thing to do is sit around a table, lingering over a long meal with good conversation. I live with my husband and our 2 littles. We like blizzards, thrifting, grammar, guacamole, cheerful hearts, nice manners, good movies, and making simple, real, nutrient-dense food.

"If Christ be anything, He must be everything."
