While over at my in-laws' house last week, my father-in-law was looking through some things in his garage. He found these antique opera glasses that belonged to his aunt, and he gave them to me! He called it my November 1st gift. How sweet and beautiful.
I was glad that along with the present, I got this little piece of family history:
The lovely lady who owned these glasses was married to a physician. And this man happened to be the physician of President Eisenhower.
You never know what intriguing connections might come to light when someone kicks up a little dust in their attic, or in this case, their garage.

Wow---those are so exquisite, and they have such a wonderful backstory to them! Do you know yet how you will display them in your home? They would be such a lovely focal point for a tablescape...

WOW. What an amazing piece! My mother gave me an egg beater for my bday that belonged to my great grandmother, and you would've thought I had received the crown jewels of England. I might actually die of happiness if something this gorgeous was passed down to me! :)

Wow! Those are beautiful! How great that you know the history behind them too - that always makes things so special. I came across a similar item in LA at a thrift store but they wanted $$$ for them!
