Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
watching and waiting, looking above,
filled with His goodness, lost in His love.
as we sat in chapel the other day, our camp pastor was talking about having a list. oh boy. i know all about that. a list of things we'd like to have, things we want to be, a point we'd like to be at in life. he was explaining to the campers that sooner or later, we'll find that those things won't fulfill us. even achieving the entire list, (as he could tell us from experience) will not leave you content. the only thing that can do that is Christ. a real relationship with Him.
i know he was speaking to the campers, but it was for me, too. it was such a refreshing time. his words about spending our lives trying to be happy with ourselves and build up our status.. basically putting the focus in all the wrong places.. it really hit home. it's so nice to be reminded of fundamental things. camp really is the perfect place to take a look at my walk with Christ.
i love this line from the hymn at the top.. lost in His love. nothing else around me, nowhere else to go. that's the point that i want to be at. where He is all.
..this is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long.

great post! i love the label "self-addressed"....sometimes when we hear great truths, we want to apply them to "others"...but they really are meant to be "self-addressed".
Love it!

thanks for sharing! it's so true that making or even fulfilling these lists will not satisfy us! We need CHRIST!

what a wonderful truth, Summer, that all we need is Christ, and what an amazing joy it is to be lost in his love and to seek after that. I've been thinking about Psalm 84 saying, 'better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere' and am again in awe that we can know our Saviour's presence here with us on earth. What a hope we have!

about this blog

Hello, I'm Summer. A people-loving introvert whose hope and life is in Jesus. His promises are my passion and my ministry is homelife. This blog is a place for me to write about everyday things. Especially food. My favorite thing to do is sit around a table, lingering over a long meal with good conversation. I live with my husband and our 2 littles. We like blizzards, thrifting, grammar, guacamole, cheerful hearts, nice manners, good movies, and making simple, real, nutrient-dense food.

"If Christ be anything, He must be everything."
-C.H. Spurgeon
