czbreadcake

deer hunting was awesome, as usual. the weather was perfect. a deer was shot. the vikings won. the food was amazing. the family keeps getting bigger. we drew names for christmas. we sang together before each meal. and heidi sent me home with a bottle of homemade vanilla extract. it went too fast, of course, but i loved it!

the monday after deer hunting always feels like, okay, it's christmastime now, right? i don't know if you're as hyper for it as i am, but no matter. i think we can all agree that there's something about this pre-holiday season that generates a need to bake. (or at least to eat what is baked.) so i'm here with an idea for you. today i posted my favorite favorite ultimate chocolate recipe on the smithfield blog. please scope it out. maybe it's what you need for the chocolate-lovers at your thanksgiving table. because not everyone is a pie person.. i can testify to that.

Totally agree about options for Thanksgiving dessert.
We always have a cookie bar, with brownies and rice krispy treats.

I really want to start a drawing in my family for Christmas - good idea!

Plus, venison sounds AMAZING right about now. Enjoy it!

Yes, yes, yes! I am hyper and excited about Christmas! Today reality really started setting in--we had our first snow, and it snowed ALL DAY!

Sounds like your hunting camp was a fabulous success. : ) Lucky you to get some of Heidi's vanilla extract. I read about it on her blog, and it sounded fabulous.

And your Chocolate Zucchini Cake look fabulously fudgy-moist and delicious! Perhaps I'll thaw some of the dreaded zucchini and give it whirl one of these days when Benjamin won't have to eat too much of it. ; )

I made these last night, and they really were Monday goodness, especially when the chocolate chips were still melty straight from the oven. Yum! And your post reminded me to shred up my extra zucchini and freeze it for next time I made this bread/cake. Thanks. - Marilyn
