talltree

well, hello blog! (and all the lovely readers behind it) happy 2012! so it's January, and we've got all winter ahead of us. but this year is really rolling. i'll try to recap my holidays and report on the first dozen days of twenty-dozen.

holidays.

  • played a few games of Ticket to Ride, Scattergories, Taboo, Charades.
  • won Trader Joe's gift cards (by winning at said games).
  • did some team-sudoku on the iPad with Grant.
  • watched Rise of the Planet of the Apes, The Help, Dive!, and The Thin Blue Line.
  • read The Hunger Games.
  • drove the car... slept in the car.
  • ate clementines, blueberry muffins, cashews, yummy eggs, dirty snowballs, Chipotle.
  • drank strawberry kombucha.
  • received a dreamy dutch oven, kefir grains, a new coat, grassfed beef, & a cozy cowl.
  • spent Christmas money at TJ's and on a food processor and juicer.
  • shopped the mall with Grandma and aunt Chelsea and a stroller.
  • listened to family stories, visited friends, shared babies.
  • new stocking up with Hadley's name on it!

life, now.

  • reading books, getting to bed on time (most nights), eating chicken chili.
  • watching the caucus/primary news. (hi, grandma!)
  • deep into the Hunger Games trilogy, with a brief Breaking Dawn interlude.
  • just bought Sophie the Giraffe this morning, for my teething darling.
  • itching to taste my homemade kombucha.. just a few more days!
  • also brewing some fruity kefir soda pop and experimenting with my new juicer.
  • filling up our deep freeze.
  • running over the '12 budget with grant. nothing says January like a new budget.
  • excited to watch new Parks & Rec tonight!
  • warmest January ever? we are taking walks without coats.
  • feels like spring, but the Christmas decorations are still up.
  • so happy to see snow yesterday. the world got all gray and white, just like January.
  • my little doll is sitting up so sturdily and playing with her blocks and fake coughing.
  • my guy is in the thick of basketball season and excited about doing our taxes.

Summer! So happy to see you posting again : )
We're also having an incredibly mild Winter in England this year - my husband has been going out without a coat, which is unheard of in any normal January!
You've made me want to read The Hunger Games - I've seen the trailer at the cinema a couple of times & feel it would be good to read the books before the film comes out.
Happy January!

I love your lists, Summer! So fun. And hooray for getting a juicer. I love mine. Also, I wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed your cookie posts over the holidays. I was totally inspired to make Spritz!

I watched Dive! the other day too and thought that it was really thought provoking. Who would have known that much food is wasted daily. Sad.

Glad to hear things are going well in your house :)

about this blog

Hello, I'm Summer. A people-loving introvert whose hope and life is in Jesus. His promises are my passion and my ministry is homelife. This blog is a place for me to write about everyday things. Especially food. My favorite thing to do is sit around a table, lingering over a long meal with good conversation. I live with my husband and our 2 littles. We like blizzards, thrifting, grammar, guacamole, cheerful hearts, nice manners, good movies, and making simple, real, nutrient-dense food.
