March 23, 2009
last week i re-organized my recipe stash.
i handed the dessert file over to grant & asked him to
weed out the will-never-make items. he's great at this.
he told me that homemade oreos sounded good.
and needing no further convincing, i baked some this weekend.
i was secretly hoping that by delegating this task to him,
one of those treats would catch his eye, & i would have a reason
to dirty up my mixer.
so here's an idea for your man who doesn't always crave dessert.
something cool, simple, & sweet. oreos, homestyle.
1. just make up a batch of your favorite fudgy cookies.
cake mix cookies work best, but any chocolatey concoction will do.
here's one from my archives, if you don't have a fave.
2. whip up a dreamy cream cheese filling.
martha has a good one here.
3. let cookies cool. spread cream. sandwich up.
store in the fridge. they're so much better firm & cold.
yum. much softer than the originals, and i'm not complaining.
i'm not much on filling/icing/frosting, but these are fab.
good idea, grant.

oh YUMM! Those sound so good.

I love, love, love you homemaker post. It resonated with me on so many levels. I might have to borrow the idea for a post of my own sometime. Imitation is the highest form of flattery, right?

my blog has a blog crush on your blog.

For whatever reason, I've never really been one for Oreos... but these, however, sound delicious! I am stashing this idea away!

Hello, I'm Summer. A people-loving introvert whose hope and life is in Jesus. His promises are my passion and my ministry is homelife. This blog is a place for me to write about everyday things. Especially food. My favorite thing to do is sit around a table, lingering over a long meal with good conversation. I live with my husband and our 2 littles. We like blizzards, thrifting, grammar, guacamole, cheerful hearts, nice manners, good movies, and making simple, real, nutrient-dense food.
