teaandpeaches
peachesandtea
it's been hot here.
not unbearable, but hot enough that i brought the big fan to the bathroom while i was getting ready for church sunday morning. and we've been sleeping in the empty bedroom downstairs because the upstairs is so warm. and i start to sweat while i'm doing the dishes. but secretly i'm loving the fact that i can wear tank tops and not have goosebumps.
in the spirit of sultry summer, i had to have iced tea. no boiling involved this time, thank goodness. there's nothing you can't figure out about iced tea, but this was my first time trying this method and i liked it. so i'll share.
24 hour tea
1. fill a pitcher with room temp water.
2. add one large, or several small tea bags (i used black & orange pekoe)
3. set in the fridge and let steep overnight.
4. the next day, sip to see if it's strong enough.
5. when tea is steeped to your liking, flavor with lemon and honey. or agave nectar. or drink it with peaches.
6. keep drinking until you cool down!
how are you staying cool?

I'm loving your tea pitcher. Sweet tea is my drink of choice. Especially for summer. I missed it so much while I was up in MN. Not many people there know what it is (sorry!). I've been home for a little over a week, and have had a glass almost every day. My heart and taste buds are so happy.

weeeellll, the fact that it's 46 degrees Fahrenheit outside and 57 degrees inside this morning means that I'm having no difficulties staying cool. : ) I'm even wearing a jacket, and my hands are still freezing! I do have to say, though, that iced tea or strawberry lemonade are my favorite cool, summery drinks. Oh, and of course ice cream just can't be beaten for summery coolness.

Your pitcher is perfect! I got mine at a thrift store in my town for under 3 dollars!

Have you ever tried making sun tea? My mom makes it by putting a sealed pitcher outside with water and tea bags and then a couple hours later brings it in and puts it in the fridge. It's unsweetened though, but I think you could put sugar in the pitcher while it's brewing so that it dissolves.

I love making lemonade in these hot months.

That tea sounds great! I have been staying cool by making a nojito... it is lime & mint muddled on the bottom of a glass, filled with sprite & lots of ice, and has a sugar rim. It has been my go to drink this summer. sooo good!!

my new fave? iced coffee!! I tried one at McDonalds ($2 for a large glass! vs. Starbuck $4!) anyway...i LOVED it!! So, now i make my own! Using your own brewed coffee, (or even instant!) pour over ice, add milk, (optional) and flavorings! My favorites are Sugar-Free Vanilla, and Sugar-Free Kahlua! Just keep adding more coffee and more ice to your glass...and you will have a continual "cool down"!!

Yummy... I make my own iced tea, too. My favorite is raspberry iced tea. I have the recipe on my blog if you want to try it.

I love your log trivet. Did you by chance make it yourself? Your blog sure makes makes me smile, glad you are holding up in the heat -- snow will be here before you know it.

Love that pitcher!

I've been loving me some iced coffee, and the occasional batch of Arnold Palmer (1/2 iced tea, 1/2 lemonade) But, here in PA it's been a cool, rainy weekend + week so there hasn't been as much need for those.

Love, your glass pitcher! I love ice water with lemon or lime wedges to keep cool, but that is too simple. I have always been a fan of a combination of ice tea and lemonade.

I just thought of another great treat to keep cool. Freeze a handful of grapes at a time and pop them in your mouth. They are so refreshing.
