Those of you who have been reading my blog for awhile know that every summer my husband Grant and our camp staff friends make a music video. And they turn out amazing! I'm always so proud to know these guys who aren't afraid to entertain us. Without further ado, here's the 9th annual Maintenance Men music video...

We aren't much of a Christmas card kind of family, so instead of sending you all a family picture and letter telling you what happened to us this year, we decided to do our second annual "Video Christmas Card." Heyyyyy everybody! It's so good to be back with you!! So, if you follow me on instagram you might have an idea of what's going on with us lately, but here are some updates.
photo 1. Welcome to CAMP! Camp began for us on Father's Day. Our first batch of campers arrived last Sunday and left on Friday, then we had a Ladies Camp event over the weekend, and our second busload of campers arrived last night. So, we're on week 2 already and getting into the swing of things.
photo 2. There are so many people here. We're having to really brainstorm to figure out how to fit everyone. It's a really exciting problem to have! Praise the Lord that Camp Shetek is bursting at the seams each summer. :)
photo 3. Grant hanging out with his fellow Maintenance Men. I'm so thankful that he gets to work with such awesome friends here- and the fact that he has been able to get back to work at all! His eye is doing much, much better, praise the Lord! And thank you for praying! Although we are still having to wait to find out about any permanent damage. It does look like a cataract has formed so his vision is not normal right now, and his pupil is still very dilated. Time will tell what action we'll need to take, if any, to fix things up.
photo 4. Lake Shetek, where the sky is always more blue than the water. (we all joke about how green the water is here) We haven't been out swimming or on the jet ski yet, but it's only June.
photo 5. On June 16, Hadley turned two!!! Can you believe that?!
On to finally telling you a bit about our vacation in Washington DC...
We loved it!! The sun was out, it was like 90 degrees, the sights were amazing, and Hadley did awesome. We walked miles and miles and rode hundreds of escalators and grabbed good seats on the metro because we always had a stroller. It was great. My top 5 favorite things were:
1. Arlington Cemetery
2. The Holocaust Museum
3. Mount Vernon
4. Ford's Theater
5. The Archives
For food, my favorite stop was a slice of pepperoni with a root beer at We, The Pizza on Capitol Hill and homemade pickles from a stand at the Eastern Market. :)

hi friends! no baby news yet. :) thank you for all the thoughts and prayers! while we wait, have you seen brian regan? you should watch this hilarious clip. we've been spending some nights watching old favorites of him on netflix/youtube. i'm not at all a stand-up comedian type of girl, but this guy is different. seriously. last night i thought some contractions might start because my belly was shaking so much.
(sorry for the poor video quality. i couldn't find a better one for this joke.)

it's april! and i am so happy about it. granted, i'm still shuffling around the house in my slippers while i do laundry today. but, the winter fog has lifted. grant has been out in the yard, the sky has been blue (has it been gray all these months? i really think it must've been), and our ice rink is gone.. leaving us a huge square of surprisingly green grass.
and while spring has been springing, i have been
resting.
watching our calendar fill up.
getting excited about the busy weeks ahead.
eating burgers made by grant.

anxiously awaiting the day i can wear my flip flops.
clipping my toenails while i can still reach them.
having a hard time making any decision.
listening to eric hutchinson.
slathering oil on my blooming baby.
stretching my lower back.
loving how the sun looks so much more yellowy lately.

reserving a banana for these cookies.
remembering how nice it is to hear birds chirp.
cleaning the bathroom instead of trying to be creative.
living in my yoga pants.
living on roasted carrots.
changing my mind about what color to paint the baby's room.
reminiscing about last year at this time, when i was training to run a race.
trying to remember running, and being glad for walking. :)
cheering grant, as he finishes up a big class.
watching "tangled"... twice. and loving it. and planning to buy it.
and singing this song all day long.. sometimes in a duet with grant.

1. next week at this time, i'll be out on the city sidewalks, busy sidewalks, dressed in holiday style. where strings of street lights, even stoplights, blink a bright red and green. yes, it really feels like that. even the stoplights are festive on that magical morning. the morning when i wake up extra early to get my annual fix of christmastime in the city. with me will be mom and sister (we'll miss you haley!). in our car, there will be newspaper ads, gift lists, and christmas music playing. in my back pocket, there will be a small stash of cash. in my hand, there will be coffee. on my face, there will be a huge smile. and in the air will be a feeling of christmas. how i love the city. and my girls. and the bustle. it is my favorite friday of the year.
2. lemon chess pie for thanksgiving?! i could get into that.
3. my brother-in-law sent me this amazing video of a 3 year old "conducting" to beethoven's 5th. each tiny hand movement is incredible! make sure you see 2:29 and 4:03.
