October 21, 2010

hi guys! guess what? grant has the day off tomorrow! so we're making it a date. we're planning to do some thrifting and see a movie. i can't wait! and we have a gift card for one of our favorite restaurants.. yay for that.

guess what else... i'm already wishing it were time to listen to christmas music. i am shameless. i don't know what does it to me, but i'm so ready! (could have something to do with the fact that the latest pottery barn catalog has plenty of christmas within the pages.) in some ways it does seem like autumn is flying by (october is almost done!), in other ways it feels like the holidays should be a whole lot closer by now. anyone with me? seriously, i'm ready to trade out the yellow-orange trees for an evergreen. bringing up the christmas tree from the basement has already, without any invitation, crept into my thoughts several times.

but here's how i'm coping: ella fitzgerald. somehow her non-christmas stuff still carries a bit of holiday appeal for me. so here is my ella playlist, in case you want to jazz up your fall and wait it out with me.

ella for october.

1. things are looking up
2. it might as well be spring
3. as long as i live
4. it's all right with me
5. 's wonderful
6. people will say we're in love
7. a foggy day
8. there never was a baby like my baby
9. pick yourself up
10. i've got a crush on you
11. what is this thing called love?
12. love and kisses
13. looking for a boy
14. love you madly
15. dream a little dream of me

ps. find all the songs on my playlist for free on grooveshark...

I love ella! And I think musically we are kindred spirits. I started listening to some Christmas music on Tuesday. I say go for it. :)

I'm very ready for the evergreens (even though I'm not always a fan of snow and cold weather - but hey, we have a snowplow this year!). Can't wait to listen to the playlist, Summer. Sounds like just what I need this time of year. (And thanks for introducing me to GrooveShark!)

Oh how the sounds of Ella would be beautiful right now. I'm absolutely with you on the Christmas music...but I will hold out. Enjoy your date with your favorite man.

I wake up every morning and pray for snow. I don't want to wish away this beautiful weather, but I just can't wait for the first snow. I too am ready for some Christmas decorations. I need some twinkle lights in my house pronto!

Get out the Christmas music, Summer! I have been happily enjoying my collection for two weeks. I love listening to it in Oct because I can enjoy it without the holiday stress. I also have a plain mini tree up with orange lights so I can get some festive goodness in the fall.

Yes, I have been listening to Christmas music for some time now. I usually start in July. It is my favorite time of the year. I do agree with you about Ella (and thank you for the playlist). I feel the same way about Nat King Cole and a few others.

Thanks for making a sweet playlist. Isn't grooveshark the best? I've made a couple playlists myself and they are so great for stuff like that.

i love the titles! it was like reading a poem! gave me an idea to compile a mixtape based on their titles, so it could read like poetry. :)

about this blog

Hello, I'm Summer. A people-loving introvert whose hope and life is in Jesus. His promises are my passion and my ministry is homelife. This blog is a place for me to write about everyday things. Especially food. My favorite thing to do is sit around a table, lingering over a long meal with good conversation. I live with my husband and our 2 littles. We like blizzards, thrifting, grammar, guacamole, cheerful hearts, nice manners, good movies, and making simple, real, nutrient-dense food.
