Back when I was first discovering that I had a colossal crush on Grant, I became deeply interested in whatever he was interested in. I tried the foods that he said he liked (Chipotle). I watched the movies that he mentioned (X-Men). I bought the songs that he was listening to. And of course, in every boy-girl song that I heard, I had to imagine that he was the boy and I was the girl. Of course! To this day, I still have a playlist in iTunes where I've stored all the songs from that stage of our relationship- everything that I bought because I wanted to be able to tell him, "Oh, I love that song too!" :) This one is my absolute favorite from that playlist. I've been listening to it a lot lately because I love it all over again.

Have fun planning something lovey for your beloved this week!
Do you guys have a "song"?

ps. Yesterday I found out one of the orders for my 50 Promises memory cards was a
Valentine's Day gift from a sweet husband to his lovely wife. ooooh! This was so fun for me!

We got Eric Hutchinson's latest album to be our soundtrack for Summer 2012. It's full of good boppy, sing-alongy songs. Perfect for summer car rides. And every song is good. and Hadley is learning to dance to them.

Tell me your favorite songs for this summer!
I am not opposed to getting a few more.

jumping the gun with a Christmas post today? i don't know, but my brain has already been there, doing that. for some reason october is the catalyst... my heart is totally into fall; the spicyness, the chill, the football, the orangey mums... and then suddenly, a dash of Christmas. nowadays, any time i think of something i want to pick up at the store or buy on amazon, it automatically goes on my mental Christmas list. too early? maybe. but it's keeping me from spending money today. :)

if i were making my list today, here's what i'd say.
earlychristmaslist
a. a cozy pair of flats. happy with your flats? fill me in. maybe i need those ones that look bendy?
b. almond butter. mmm. yes. i love asking for food for Christmas. almond butter is expensive!
c. food processor/blender. my kitchen needs some help. (fingers crossed for a 12-cup processor!)
d. new robe. nothing expensive, because it will be getting spit upon. but white is nice for bleaching.
e.  the music man. i want to put this movie on our iPad and take it wherever i go in life.
f. weck canning jars. pretty. glass. storage. end of story.
g. herbal tea. grocery store gifts are my fave, remember? i'd like rooibos and chamomile, please.
h. non-maternity yoga pants. i thought my maternity ones would still work… uhhh. no.

sheandhim
and today She & Him released a Christmas album! how fun is that. go take a listen! the previews of the Christmas waltz and sleigh ride sound super sweet. like an updated Carpenters Christmas vibe. definitely going to Spottify this one come december.

grant and i are over the moon. michael lives on! have you heard this new single? it's catchy. and it's currently my favorite thing to youtube. i can't stop listening to it. it's awesome to hear that voice again!

the new album michael is expected to release december 14th and you can pre-order it now on itunes! the perfect christmas gift for a guy i know... (if we get any itunes cards this christmas, we know how to use them.)

and happy friday guys! this morning i'm enjoying snow, snow, and more snow. it's coming down hard and fast like in the movies, and it's on a mission: to make us stay put all weekend long. yay. so i'll be singing along with one of my favorite movie-songs. (be careful not to watch the video too much, it looks like they really filmed it on a moving train.. but you can listen!)

hi guys! guess what? grant has the day off tomorrow! so we're making it a date. we're planning to do some thrifting and see a movie. i can't wait! and we have a gift card for one of our favorite restaurants.. yay for that.

guess what else... i'm already wishing it were time to listen to christmas music. i am shameless. i don't know what does it to me, but i'm so ready! (could have something to do with the fact that the latest pottery barn catalog has plenty of christmas within the pages.) in some ways it does seem like autumn is flying by (october is almost done!), in other ways it feels like the holidays should be a whole lot closer by now. anyone with me? seriously, i'm ready to trade out the yellow-orange trees for an evergreen. bringing up the christmas tree from the basement has already, without any invitation, crept into my thoughts several times.

but here's how i'm coping: ella fitzgerald. somehow her non-christmas stuff still carries a bit of holiday appeal for me. so here is my ella playlist, in case you want to jazz up your fall and wait it out with me.

ella for october.

1. things are looking up
2. it might as well be spring
3. as long as i live
4. it's all right with me
5. 's wonderful
6. people will say we're in love
7. a foggy day
8. there never was a baby like my baby
9. pick yourself up
10. i've got a crush on you
11. what is this thing called love?
12. love and kisses
13. looking for a boy
14. love you madly
15. dream a little dream of me

ps. find all the songs on my playlist for free on grooveshark...

about this blog

Hello, I'm Summer. A people-loving introvert whose hope and life is in Jesus. His promises are my passion and my ministry is homelife. This blog is a place for me to write about everyday things. Especially food. My favorite thing to do is sit around a table, lingering over a long meal with good conversation. I live with my husband and our 2 littles. We like blizzards, thrifting, grammar, guacamole, cheerful hearts, nice manners, good movies, and making simple, real, nutrient-dense food.

"If Christ be anything, He must be everything."
